Michael Echols represents North Louisiana (District 14) in the Louisiana House of Representatives and serves as Chairman of the House Republican Delegation. A lifelong resident of Northeast Louisiana, Michael has built his career on strengthening communities, expanding opportunity, and demanding accountability from government.
A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he earned degrees in Accounting and an MBA, Michael is a licensed contractor and commercial real estate investor and builder. He has led projects that revitalize historic downtowns, expand housing, develop hotels and healthcare facilities, and create jobs across Louisiana.
In the legislature, Michael has become a leading voice for healthcare reform and fiscal responsibility. He has exposed hospital mismanagement, pushed for greater transparency, and championed policies that protect patients while ensuring rural communities have access to quality care. His work to empower entrepreneurs and reduce regulatory burdens earned him the 2025 NFIB Small Business Champion Award.
Beyond the legislature, Michael’s service spans arts, culture, youth development, and historic preservation. He has served as President of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, President of the Monroe Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Louisiana State Arts Council, and President of the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation.
Michael is the longtime host of “Echols @ Eight” on KMLB, where he delivers principled conservative commentary on the issues shaping Louisiana’s future.
At home, Michael is a devoted husband to Christie and a proud father to Amelia and Everly.
